Underpinning designs for basement conversions

The works also included a bespoke steel portal frame to provide a private spa and gym complex.
DOMESTIC EXTENSION

This design work included checks on existing foundation to determine if they can take an additional story.
LOFT CONVERSION
/in Projects /by adminWe have been appointed recently as the chosen structural engineers in Manchester on the conversion and structural alterations of a domestic property. The main works encompass remodeling of the internal floors along with extensive alterations required for the roof space to allow the additional loft accommodation.
REFURBISHMENT OF OLD MILL BUILDING
/in Projects /by adminWe were instructed to carry out the structural design work for the refurbishment work within an old grade listed mill building. The main work consisted in the design of additional floors within the building ensuring all the necessary design checks had been carried out on the existing foundations, which included under pinning designs.
The existing king post trusses also had to be design engineered to allow them to be cut to make way for a large loft boardroom space. This was carried out using structural ply bow beam designs. Further design work included structural steel staircase designs.

CONVERSION OF GRADE 2 LISTED BARN BUILDINGS, OXFORDSHIRE

THESE BARNS ARE GOING TO BE REMODELED AND REFURBISHED TO CONVERT INTO DOMESTIC PROPERTIES.

Bridge design

EXTENSIVE REFURBISHMENT OF COACH HOUSE
/in Projects /by adminWE HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED TO CARRY OUT THE FULL STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING DESIGN FOR THE EXTENSIVE REBUILDING AND REMODELING OF AN EXISTING COACH HOUSE. THE DESIGN INCORPORATES THE DESIGN OF CANTILEVERED STAIRCASES, WIND PORTAL FRAMES FOR LARGE BIFOLD DOOR OPENINGS AND NUMEROUS STEEL BEAMS TO ALLOW FOR THE REMOVAL OF INTERNAL LOAD BEARING WALLS AND FLOORS.
CHURCH CONVERSION, POOLE

The design includes the addition of a new floor within the existing grade listed church. The structural engineering also encompasses a new large glass box extension that has also includes a cantilevered first floor area.

SMALL HOUSING DEVELOPMENT, LANCASHIRE

NEW MOSQUE, MANCHESTER
/in Projects /by adminwe have recently carried out the full structural design as the chosen structural engineers for a 4 story multiuse mosque. The design included the following:
Basement designs including retaining walls to the perimeter.

NEW BAR, CENTRAL MANCHESTER
/in Projects /by adminWe were instructed to carry out all the structural design to convert a dilapidated building into a bar/restaurant. The design included all the necessary steel work, masonry pier and foundation designs.
RETAINING WALL DESIGN
/in Projects /by adminWe recently carried out the design of a steel frame over a river that was required to give stability to an existing brick retaining wall that was in turn supporting a chemical plant.
The new stabilising steel frame also included the design of the associated thrust blocks that were needed to withstand horizontal slippage of the new frame and existing dilapidated brick retaining wall.
DOMESTIC EXTENSION INCLUDING BASEMENT DESIGN

This meant that steel beams, masonry pier and wall designs were required to achieve building regulation approval. The design also cater for underpinning to the existing dwelling to facilitate the design of a basement and sunken terrace area.

DELI ALTERATIONS, DIDSBURY, MANCHESTER
/in Projects /by adminWe were chosen as the consultant structural engineers to carry out all the steel work design and calculations to allow an expanding deli to convert the adjoining premises into one large deli/cafe space. The design included all the steel work, masonry pier checks and piled foundation designs. The design also catered for all the existing loading from the office block over. The work also involved supplementary reports to gain party wall agreements with all the adjoining neighbors.
NEW BUILD, RIVER THAMES, LONDON
/in Projects /by adminWe have recently been instructed for the above project as the chosen structural engineer in London. The conceptual design included a pile and ring beam foundation and then the associative steel frame and timber clad framing design for the two individually designed new builds.
MILL CONVERSION
/in Projects /by adminWe have recently been instructed as the main structural engineer to carry out the full structural appraisal and design of all the internal alterations. The designs for the alterations included the provision of a steel work frame to allow the existing large timber trusses to be cut to make way for a further floor. Additional designs also have to be carried out to form a space frame for a protruded boxed floor area and a feature stairwell.

INDUSTRIAL AND OFFICE BUILDING
/in Projects /by adminWe have been chosen as the lead structural engineer to design a new office and water bottling plant. the design incorporates a steel portal frame with internal mezzanines. the foundations that have been designed include a pile and ring beam design. Retaining walls have also been designed to cater for a new link road.
SCHOOL EXTENSION AND ALTERATIONS, OXFORD

The design detail included a steel portal frame design with cranked canopy areas. Other detail included the design for the removal of existing internal load bearing walls and the designs of all the necessary masonry panels and piers to facilitate these steel beams and large window openings.
